Jaaved Jaaferi retains his innocence but unfortunately gets extremely dull dialogues. The film starts with introducing stars first but I’ll go with those who made Dhamaal possible.

Total Dhamaal Movie Review: Star Performance But Total Dhamaal has none such scenes (one, maybe). Dhamaal is still remembered for its drop-till-you-are-dead-laughing sequences (Vijay Raaz’s aeroplane sequence being one of them). The only funny moments in the film are because of its retained members. It also fails because of focusing more on stars (Ajay, Anil and Madhuri) and sidelining the original cast of the film (Arshad, Jaaved and Riteish). The jokes (most of them compiled straight from Whatsapp) come in large quantities but many of them misfire. The problem with the script is, it’s never stable. After a lazily choreographed Paisa Paisa in the start, there are some genuinely funny moments in the first half. But, there’s no improvement as far as the fun element is concerned. Is Total Dhamaal as bad as its last instalment? No. Double Dhamaal (2011) was doubly forgettable. In 2007, back to the simpler times, Indra Kumar gifted us with a comedy that became cult classic over time. Total Dhamaal Movie Review: It Had One Job… To Make Us Laugh! Total Dhamaal Movie Review: Script Analysis The rest of madness belongs to who will get to the treasure first going through the wild animals in the zoo. On reaching the Zoo, they have one more claimer in Chinappa Swami (Mahesh Manjrekar). Out of those problems, one is the police commissioner (Boman Irani) who also wants the piece of the cake. Now, as expected, there come a lot of hurdles in between. They are joined by a couple Avinash (Anil Kapoor) and Bindu (Madhuri), a brother duo Adi (Arshad Warsi) and Maanav (Jaaved Jaaferi) and a fireman Lallan (Riteish Deshmukh).Īll of them come to the conclusion of whoever reaches and gets to the treasure first, wins it. Guddu (Ajay Devgn) and Johnny (Sanjay Mishra) are con-artists who set their eyes first on the reward. For those who are new to this franchise, that basic plot is similar, it’s just the makers (don’t know why) decide to go chaotic this time. You feel like facepalming like the monkey in Total Dhamaal. We see Pintu (Manoj Pahwa) giving directions to half the dozen of people for a treasure worthy of 50 crores hidden in Janakpur. There's a message about animals too, but you have too much of a headache to appreciate it. How they overcome them and whether they finally get the money forms the rest of this confusing and haphazard film. However, they have another set of problems waiting for them there. Similar to the first Dhamaal (2007), a dying man reveals that there is a booty of Rs 50 crore hidden in a Janakpur zoo.Īnd so, a mad chase begins as Ajay Devgn-Sanjay Mishra, Javed Jaffery-Arshad Warsi, Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit who play a couple on the verge of divorce, Boman Irani and Riteish Deshmukh begin a mad race to get to the zoo first. Except that Total Dhamaal is as bereft of comedy as the desert that Arshad Warsi and Javed Jaffery get lost in. Such films usually rely on strong comedy. But alright, we didn't expect a storyline that required us to use our brains. The constant background tune of "paisa" echoes the audience's thoughts as they realise that they wasted money on this film, not to mention their time.įor starters, the film's plot is as weak as the bridge that we saw in the promos. There are bad films, and there are bad films that are so good that you still will laugh while watching it. So is this Total Dhamaal worth your time?
